Production Process
15 Sets of Hands Touch Each Piece of Polish Pottery
Fifteen pairs of skilled hands are responsible for creating and delivering the most beautiful, functional art for your home. A long and complicated path is followed to get handmade polish pottery to you.
It all begins when a truck arrives at the factory to deliver loose clay that is mined from a local river bank in the town of Boleslawiec, Poland. Pottery began in Boleslawiec, Poland when natural clay deposits were discovered in the area surrounding the city. These natural clay deposits yield premium quality clay, identified as such by its high feldspar and silicon content.
The entire process for each piece of pottery to be created before it is shipped to the states takes about two weeks.
You are able to watch a video below showing the pottery being created.
The next stages follow:
1. A hand production model is created by the artistic director and form designer.
2. A hand production primary form is produced.
3. A hand production working form is produced in the shape of a mold.
4. Shaping a form with a liquid slip.
