Factories
There are about forty different factories in Boleslawiec, Poland that create these timeless pieces. Our pottery is ordered from a handful of the most well known and respected factories. We are including some links to the factories themselves.
This first factory is Zaklady Ceramiczne which is one of the largest manufacturers of hand-crafted and hand-decorated tableware pottery, using the unique worldwide stamping technique . During WWII, the stoneware factories and the region were devastated. After the war, from “the town of good clay”, emerged Zaklady Ceramiczne and Ceramika Artystyczna (discussed below) stoneware factories. They remain the two largest cooperatives and producers of Signature, Unikat “Unique”, and Traditional Polish pottery in the region. You’ll be amazed at the amount of time and hand work that goes into each piece of your Polish pottery. To fully appreciate the pieces, please take a minute to watch the short video by clicking on the Zaklady Factory link below. Once on the Zaklady site, click on the About Us category. Two video links are provided on the left side.
Another factory that is world renowned is Ceramika Artystyczna (known as CA for short), one of the largest factories. Thanks to the technological perfection and to the great and diverse range of forms and ornaments, the plant’s products are awarded in both Polish and international competitions. Their craftsmanship has been internationally recognized year after year and is considered to have the highest quality stoneware. Interestingly, 70% of Ceramika Artystyczna’s workers are women, including the president. The factory is a coopertive meaning that all of the profits are shared by the employees.
Vena is the easiest factory to work with. Working with factories in Poland can be quite difficult at times but this factory is in a class on its own. They are very professional and friendly and work hard to meet the needs of the small businesses that work with them. Our favorite factory to work with! Since the moment that the company was established in 2003, it has been drawing on the rich tradition, while at the same time, introducing the spirit of modern styles as well as creating unique and remarkable decorative arts. The successive creations created personally by the owner keep gaining the recognition of both local and foreign customers. The fact that their production is characteristic of the regional craft has been attested by The National Artistic and Ethnographic Commission in Warsaw. Nowadays, there are over 200 various patterns and over 150 decorations in their offer.
A smaller factory is called ANDY. The ANDY factory is a family owned and operated business. For many years, their company has created over 70 new designs of unique character, closely related to the 60 year old pottery tradition present in Boleslawiec. Their pottery is made only of natural and ecological materials, using proven and traditional methods. Each pattern created is designed, hand painted, and signed by the artist.
WR-RUTYNA UNIKAT has over 30 years experience in the ceramics industry. They entered the Polish pottery market with a new concept in design. Their decision was to make a UNKAT or “Unique” product, hence the name. Each piece is personally created by highly accomplished artisans who have risen to be known as the best painters of Polish Pottery. It is marked with “UNIKAT” and is personally signed by the artisan. Rarer and more intricate in design, they are just as functional as other pottery.
