Care of Polish Pottery

Polish Pottery WR Bowls

Polish pottery is very durable and chip resistant.   In fact, we have yet to chip a piece in fifteen years!  However, because it is a stone, certain precautions need to be taken to ensure that the pottery will last a lifetime.

Avoid Extreme Temperature Changes

As with ANY stone, caution needs to be taken to not expose the pottery to extreme changes in temperature.  In other words, do not take the pottery out of a refrigerator and into a warm oven.  Please allow the pottery to be at room temperature.  If you’re in a hurry, you can do what we often do.  We place the pottery in a cold oven and allow it to slowly heat up.

To be perfectly honest, we have occasionally put boiling water  into a piece and have had no problems. However, we cannot recommend this.

As with ANY stoneware, it is not recommended that Polish Pottery be used in the microwave on HIGH  power for long periods of time.

Tip: To REMOVE the pricing labels from the pottery, simply allow the label to soak for a few minutes and remove.

If you’re pressed for time or if you have a lot of newly purchased pottery, you may want to try this little trick.  We simply load the dishwasher with the pottery and let it run through the entire cycle but we stop it before the drying cycle begins.  This gets the labels wet and hot and makes them VERY easy to remove.
